Résumé

Leo Reynolds would love to marry his secretary. It would make his life much simpler. Unfortunately, she was already married and practically twice his age. Besides, women didn't usually stay with him for long when they discovered he was working more than 100 hours a week. Loneliness was the price he'd had to pay for catapulting Reynolds Capital Management to fame."You're my salvation, Mrs. Gordon, " Leo said with a grateful smile as he leaned back in his chair.
His personal computer was refusing to talk to the printer, and in the middle of the dispute, a vital document had gotten stuck. The signed copy he finally had in his hand had to be sent to Garrett Engineering, a company on the other side of Dallas, in less than 30 minutes."I wouldn't say printing a proposal would save your life, Mr. Reynolds, " Mrs. Gordon replied, pointedly glancing at her watch.
"It's very late, and it's Friday, anyway. Take Jenna to that new restaurant in Victoria Park and let me handle the submission of the proposal. Relax for once. It'll do you good."Remorse and sorrow were reflected on Leo's face, but they soon faded.-Jenna and I are over. She's already seeing someone else. Leo hoped this new relationship would make her happy. Jenna deserved a man who could shower her with attention and affection.
He regretted not being able to give her what she wanted, but it would have been very unfair to let Jenna continue to hope that Leo would ever become a man capable of focusing on a relationship. As a result, he had lost a great partner."So who are you going to bring to the museum ceremony now?" Mrs. Gordon asked, crossing her arms and looking at Leo with some disapproval. Leo sighed. He'd forgotten about that event.
The new children's museum in the Dallas Arts District bore his name, since he'd donated all the money to build it.-You're free next Saturday, right?Mrs. Gordon burst out laughing as if Leo had told her a joke."One of these days, when you ask me out, I'm going to say yes and really make things difficult for you, " she said, laughing. "If Jenna's no longer available, find another woman. It doesn't sound like that's a difficult task for you."Indeed, Leo had no shortage of women who wanted to go out with him, or at least thought they did until they realized how little time and attention he had to devote to them.
It never took long to reach that point. A slight feeling of emptiness came over him, a feeling he'd been experiencing more and more recently. He'd attributed it to his constant desire to achieve success, but when it happened during a conversation about his personal life, he wasn't so sure.-I hate quotes. And everything that came with it. That period of getting to know the person required energy and time he couldn't spare.
Reynolds Capital Management always came first.-Because he doesn't do it often. Again. Mrs. Gordon's favorite topic. She never tired of criticizing him for not having a woman in his life.
