Dieses Buch nimmt das 500. Reformationsjubiläum zum Anlass, den Blick global zu weiten. Es thematisiert die zentralen Fragen und Herausforderungen für lutherische Theologie und Kirche in außereuropäischen Kontexten zu Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts. Autoren aus Afrika, Asien, Südamerika und Nordamerika erörtern die elementaren Themen der Entwicklung lutherischer Theologie in ihrem jeweiligen Kontext.

Furthermore, two contributions reflect on the ecumenical formation of Lutheran churches and on the significance of global inter-religious relations. The introduction by the editors - both Lutheran systematic theologians - presents the issues to be discussed; their summary gives an overview of the cross-cutting developments and perspectives of Lutheran theology.
