Résumé
Organised in two parts, 'From Punk Rock to Green Spirituality' is a selection of previously published writings by GreenSpirit's designer, writer and editor Stephen Wollaston, who writes under the yoga name Santoshan. He studied world religions and religious education at King's College London, is also an Interfaith minister, and was the principal bass guitarist in one of London's first punk rock bands, The Wasps; hence the book's title which is also the title of the opening chapter.
In the book, Stephen covers essential teachings for our current times and shares personal insights about his journey from playing various punk venues to being involved in promoting important green wisdom. In Part One, while drawing on his creative background, studies in transpersonal psychology and numerous spiritual traditions, he beautifully weaves an essential green vision through each of the areas he writes on, and includes a beneficial chapter of experiential exercises.
In Part Two he reflects on contemporary issues such as feminism, sexuality, green Muslims and holistic spirituality, and closes with a well-researched chapter on mystical phenomena in early Christianity. Above all, Stephen honours creativity and its interconnections with the creativity of all life and the need for responsible and compassionate interactions with the natural world.
