Personal Chaos -- Crisis and chaos, almost always, are born out of a "loss" experience. To be alive and growing as a person is to know at some point in time, personal chaos; no one is spared from this style of event. Personal chaos over a prolonged period of time begins to cloud our thinking processes and dysfunctional feelings or behaviours begin to surface bearing testimony to the fact that inwardly, our coping mechanisms are beginning to "red line", prophesying an imminent collapse.
When this occurs, it doesn't take long to discover that our normal coping skills no longer work. Our world feels as if it has imploded upon us. Yet, in the face of personal chaos, we stand stoic in the face of those around us, pretending our chaos is nothing more than the figment of their imagination, boasting as to how everything is "fine...just fine". But, as chaos digs in, we begin to live a lifestyle of panic, sadness, shame or blame, wondering where we'll find the resources to keep on going.
How you respond to such a personal crisis, often determines who you are, where your are at in your personal life growth, and who you will become. Order and chaos fight a ongoing battle with each other -- a constant state of anarchy, lawlessness, or emotional tug-of-war. The emotional and psychological highs and lows of both order and chaos are familiar to us all. Learning to navigate our chaos rather than shutting it down can provide rich rewards.
