Erstmals in der Geschichte ihrer seit über fünf Jahrzehnten geführten bilateralen Dialoge zwischen Orthodoxie und Protestantismus behandeln beide Delegationen die Rolle und das Verständnis der Bilder in der Frömmigkeit beider Kirchen. Die Beiträge in diesem Band fragen nicht nur nach den biblischen Grundlagen und der liturgischen Einbindung der Bilder, sondern nehmen auch die Herausforderung in den Blick, die Bildertheologien beider Kirchen gegenüber säkularen Bilderverständnissen zu entfalten.
