Résumé

California did not merely produce UFO sightings. It produced the aircraft, missiles, cameras, sensors, military ranges, reconnaissance systems, and classified programs most capable of creating them. In State of the Unknown: California, K. G. Groves examines three major intersections between unidentified aerial reports and the hidden machinery of American aerospace power. At Muroc Air Field in 1947, military personnel and flight-test workers reported unfamiliar objects above one of the most advanced experimental aviation centers in the world.
The witnesses knew aircraft. The base also concealed aircraft they were not permitted to know. At Vandenberg, a former Air Force photographic officer claimed that a camera team filmed an unknown object circling and disabling a test reentry vehicle. The alleged film has never been recovered publicly, leaving the case balanced between witness testimony, missile history, classified testing, and missing evidence.
Off the Southern California coast in 2004, the USS Nimitz carrier group encountered an object later known as the Tic Tac. Trained aviators, shipboard radar reports, ocean observations, and an authenticated infrared recording created one of the strongest modern military UAP cases. They also created a complex problem involving sensors, distance, geometry, exercises, balloons, drones, classified systems, and incomplete data.
This book does not begin with extraterrestrials. It begins with the record. Using publicly available government documents, declassified files, official military histories, congressional testimony, scientific analysis, authenticated imagery, archival sources, and reputable reporting, K. G. Groves separates what is confirmed from what is reported, what is probable from what is merely plausible, and what remains unresolved from what has been enlarged beyond the evidence.
The result is not one answer. It is an evidence ledger. Some cases close. Some narrow. Some survive. California: Where Secrecy Learned to Fly is Book Two of State of the Unknown, a documentary nonfiction series examining three historically significant UFO and UAP intersections in every state. The impossible can be human. The secret can be real. Neither fact identifies the object.
K. G. Groves is an American author of investigative nonfiction and speculative fiction whose work follows difficult questions wherever the evidence or story leads. His nonfiction examines current affairs, true crime, institutional power, unexplained events, and contested public records with an emphasis on documented evidence, competing explanations, and the distinction between what is known, alleged, inferred, and unresolved.
His fiction spans horror, science fiction, fantasy, satire, psychological suspense, and the unexplained, often placing ordinary people inside systems, places, and realities that begin to behave by unfamiliar rules. Across both nonfiction and fiction, Groves writes for readers who value curiosity, consequence, atmosphere, and ideas that linger after the final page. He is the author of multiple ongoing series and stand-alone works published through Buckdaddy Studio, an independent imprint distributed through major ebook retailers and library platforms.
