M. Sasek was born on November 18, 1916, in Prague, Czechoslovakia. Beloved author and illustrator, he is best remembered for his award-winning classic stories on the great cities of the world, recorded with a loving eye and a playful sense of fun. Sasek died in 1980 at the age of 63.
