It's a blazing summer when trouble arrives in ardnakelty. Cal Hooper was a Chicago detective, till he moved to the Irish countryside looking for peace. He's found it, more or less, in his relationships with secretive Lena and half-wild teenager Trey. But when Trey's absent father turns up, bringing along an English millionaire and a big plan, he threatens not only the balance of the tight-knit community, but everything Cal has built here.
Cal is ready to do whatever it takes to protect Trey. But Trey doesn't want protecting. What she wants is revenge.
