The first and definitive two-volume monograph of the highly influential Japanese designer Shiro Kuramata. Presenting the depth and breadth of Kurarnata's remarkable body of work, the monograph includes essays by Devlin Sudjic. writings from Kurarnata, and a complete illustrated catalogue of works detailing more than POO fumiture, product, and Interior designs. The first volume explores Kurarna's life in Japan and the ideas, relationships, and technical innovations that made his work possible.
It also presents a selection of Kuramata's writings and interviews that have been translated into English for the first time. The seco. volume is a catalogue of works that Kuramate designed in his lifetime, most of which have never been published (and many of which, including nearly an the interiors, have been demolished). Each project is illustrated with an image from the Kuremeta archives and accompanied by an extended caption plus key information.
