Rapport sur l'état de l'Union européenne 2004

This annual report on the European Union is organized around political, economic and social considerations. It goes into the Union's extension towards the East as well as the legitimacy of the new group concerning previous national sovereignties. The economic part assesses the effect of the tight budgetary maneuvers granted to member countries on growth. Lastly, in a context of the opening of markets, the questions of retirement and the future of public service are broached.
