Résumé

"When Sherman and His Boys Came South" follows the escapades of two Bryant brothers before, during, and after the Civil War. These are true stories taken from piles of handwritten family notes passed down in the Bryant family from generation to generation. This book also details the political, and military entanglements of this rich man's war and poor man's fight. This book tells of the personalities, strengths, and weaknesses of the generals who led the boys into battle.
Those viewpoints came from the things witnessed by the rebels in the trenches. Of particular interest is the apparent distortion of history, and how today's history differs from the observations of those who were actually there and witnessed it as it happened. This book tells of Nathan Bedford Forrest's influence and how his role as the first white supporter of civil rights for the Blacks has completely been ignored in the history books.
"When Sherman and His Boys Came South" tells the stories as they should have been taught in the history classes of our schools.with excitement, enthusiasm, and insight into the lives of those who made it happen. Some of these stories were published earlier, and resulted in this author being named "Writer of the Year" in one nostalgic magazine with national distribution. If you like true stories and enjoy the excitement of history as it liberally spreads its tales before us, this is a must-read.
The Bryant boys were the double-great grandfather and double-great Uncle of the author.
