Résumé

WE FOUND LOVE IN A HOPELESS PLACE is a story about two people who met in a cancer ward, fell in love with no future, and found that was enough. Sarah Dlamini has survived things most people never recover from. Her mother murdered. Years homeless on the streets of Cape Town. Cancer, twice.  By the time she arrives in Ward 214 at Groote Schuur Hospital for the third time, she has stopped hoping for anything except a quiet ending.
Steven has other ideas.  Loud, stubborn, and terminally ill, he arrives in the bed across from hers and refuses, completely, almost offensively, to behave like someone who is dying. He talks too much. He sings badly. He loses every chess game.  And slowly, without either of them meaning for it to happen, he becomes the person Sarah cannot imagine living without. This is not a story where love conquers everything.
The cancer does not retreat. The ending does not change.  But somewhere between Ward 214 and one perfect afternoon at the ocean Sarah never got to see with her mother, two broken people found each other. And that changed everything. Set against the raw beauty of Cape Town, We Found Love in a Hopeless Place is a contemporary romance about grief, second chances, and finding meaning when time is running out.
For readers who want their hearts shattered and put back together.                                                                                                              About the Author, Sibusiso Mahlangu is a South African author of eight books, a YouTuber with over 1000 videos, and the host of _The Walk of a Chosen_ on Spotify. His work explores love, grief, faith, and resilience through stories rooted in South African life.
Known for his raw, emotional style, Sibusiso writes for readers who want stories that feel real and hit deep. His writing and interviews have been featured in the _Sowetan_, _Mpumalanga News_, and on SABC's XK FM, among others. When he's not writing, Sibusiso is creating content for his YouTube channel and podcast, speaking directly to a growing audience of young Africans navigating faith, purpose, and healing.
Sibusiso Mahlangu was born on 5 October 2001 in Lydenburg (Mashishing), Mpumalanga, South Africa. His journey as a writer began long before he ever published a book. In Grade 6, as a quiet and naturally introverted learner, Sibusiso discovered writing as a way to express his thoughts and emotions. At the time, he was not writing books. He was filling pages with song lyrics, unknowingly laying the foundation for the author he would one day become.
In 2023, he published his first book, The Journey of Self Discovery, marking the beginning of a remarkable literary journey. Since then, he has continued to write books that inspire, challenge, and empower readers, including Life After Matric: Thabiso's True Story and You Were Born a Genius. Beyond books, Sibusiso has established himself as a motivational speaker, podcaster, and digital creator. Through more than 1, 100 YouTube videos, he has consistently encouraged people to believe in themselves, pursue their purpose, and remain resilient despite life's challenges.
His work has earned recognition both locally and internationally. He has been featured in major South African newspapers, including Daily Sun and The Sowetan, and his books have been acquired by public libraries, including the Dubai Public Library, allowing his words to reach readers beyond South Africa's borders. What makes Sibusiso's story remarkable is not where he started, but how he refused to stop.
With limited resources but an unwavering commitment to his calling, he has continued to build a body of work that proves persistence can take ordinary beginnings to extraordinary places. Today, Sibusiso Mahlangu continues to write with one mission: to inspire people to believe that their circumstances do not determine their destiny, and that one decision, one book, or one act of courage can change the course of a life forever.
