Mehr als zwei Jahrzehnte lang war Martin Friedrich für die theologische und ökumenische Arbeit der Gemeinschaft Evangelischer Kirchen in Europa (GEKE) zuständig. Als Ehrung zu seinem 65. Geburtstag und zugleich als Beitrag zum 50-jährigen Jubiläum der Leuenberger Konkordie 2023 wird eine Auswahl seiner Aufsätze und Vorträge aus dieser Zeit vorgelegt. Die Thematik reicht von der Geschichte des Protestantismus in Europa im 16.
bis 19. Jahrhundert über die Vorgeschichte, Geschichte und laufende Arbeit der GEKE bis hin zu evangelischen Beiträgen zum aktuellen ökumenischen Dialog. [From the Reformation to Communion. 50 Years of Leuenberg Agreement]] For over two decades Martin Friedrich was responsible for the theological and ecumenical work of the Communion of Protestant Churches in Europe (CPCE). This is a selection of his essays and lectures from that period, issued in honour of his 65th birthday and, at the same time, as a contribution to the 50th anniversary of the Leuenberg Agreement in 2023.
The topics span the history of Protestantism in Europe in the sixteenth to nineteenth centuries, the prehistory, history and current activity of the CPCE, and Protestant contributions to the present ecumenical dialogue. About the author: Martin Friedrich (born in 1957), from 2002 study secretary of the Communion of Protestant Churches in Europe, and from 2003 adjunct professor of church history at Ruhr University Bochum.
