Résumé

The Russian invasion of Ukraine at the end of February 2022 marked the second and the most devastating part of the war between Russia and Ukraine. It has changed the whole political and military landscape of Europe and has triggered a prolonged war that has claimed thousands of lives, both for soldiers and civilians. All this was precipitated by the quest for freedom in Ukraine. It all started in Ukraine with the intense political manoeuvring by opposing political parties over political freedom and domestic, economic and foreign policy directions of the country.
This eventually led to massive street demonstrations, terrible chaos and severe civil unrest. The severe distrust and hatred between various factions within Ukraine and the terrible hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, once ignited, become unstoppable. What is the price of freedom? And what must be done to prevent the quest for freedom from descending into a war that causes massive loss of lives and property? These are the questions that must be answered if we are to avoid many more such tragedies from happening in the world.
