Once destined for glory, thirty-six-year-old Billy Miller finds himself mired in complacency with his private life. As head groundskeeper for Pine Meadows Park, the hotbed of youth baseball, he's able to stay close to the one activity he cherishes above all. His prized solitude is soon interrupted by a twenty-seven-year-old reporter, Calista Pappas, hell-bent on digging up his past for a feature story.
Despite Billy's disapproval, and driven by what she considers to be a compelling justification, Calista persists and places Billy on the offensive.
