Résumé

The Cold War has a secret. Both sides are keeping it. Berlin, 1962. Tobias Kessler is a British MI6 officer running agents across the most dangerous border in the world. He is patient, meticulous, and fluent in the language of deception. But when one of his agents discovers a hidden communication channel that crosses the Berlin Wall, a channel that appears in no directory and is monitored by no known service, Tobias begins an investigation that will take him somewhere far more dangerous than the Cold War.
In the most surveilled city on Earth, where every intelligence service watches every other, Tobias is about to discover what is really watching, and how long it has been watching for. In 2025, Zara receives an encrypted message through a channel so archaic that modern systems cannot identify the protocol. Someone has been running for a very long time. Someone who has evidence that could reshape everything she has uncovered, if she can reach them before the conspiracy does.
The wall is not the barrier. The wires are the cage. The Wall is the fourth novella in Every Face Is No Face, a five-part speculative thriller spanning 123 years of hidden history.
T. M. Green is a systems theorist and independent technology writer based in the United Kingdom. His non-fiction work explores the intersections of artificial intelligence, decentralised cognition, and posthuman ethics, and has been featured on Ground News and circulated among researchers across the technology and academic sectors. Every Face is No Face is his debut fiction series, though the questions it asks are ones he has been circling for years.
What happens to identity when consciousness is no longer tethered to a body? What does technological progress look like when viewed from the perspective of a mind trapped inside the infrastructure? And at what point does the network stop serving humanity and start becoming something else entirely?
