The Temple That Remembers

Professor Cormac Havel has been missing for eleven days when his coded field packet reaches Saskia Voss. The twenty-year-old conservation trainee owes Havel her education, her ambitions, and the professional future she has barely begun to claim. But the coordinates hidden in his message point inside the Namarra Rainshield - a protected cultural landscape he was never authorized to enter. Saskia joins a recovery mission commanded by the Maravé National Heritage Service.
Deep beyond the published maps, the team discovers the Nine-Rain Sanctuary and the object Havel called the Heart of the Jungle. Its custodians know it by another name: the Witness Stone. Rooted into an ancient water system, the Stone preserves powerful memories and externalizes them as sound, image, pressure, and physical force. Havel has removed the shard that keeps it stable. Now the sanctuary is replaying the fears, betrayals, and private histories of everyone who enters - and its influence is spreading downstream.
Havel believes the Stone must be extracted before its existence is lost. Saskia discovers that removing it would destroy the ecosystem it regulates. The only way to stop the damage is to return the shard and flood the lower archive, erasing the evidence that could make both their careers. To save the sanctuary, Saskia must decide whether knowledge is still worth possessing when possession becomes another form of destruction.
