The Sequel Bittersweet Memories

A tall muscular man dressed in a dark overcoat stepped from the car. His powerful stature almost took her breath away. In a way he could have been mistaken for Jake in looks and his bronzed coloring and the way he carried himself. When he drew closer, she sucked in her breath eyeing how handsome he was with the dark fringed black eyes and chiseled profile. To anyone that knew Jake, he could pass as Jake's twin, but she knew that was impossible since her husband was an only child.
The man studied her with as much interest as she was doing him. It seemed as if minutes passed, but it could only have been a few seconds. A shiver raced through her waiting impatiently for him to reach her. She felt an overpowering sensation overwhelm her knowing that it wasn't Jake, but he certainly could pass as his double. "The company contacted me about Jake's disappearance, " he told her, confusing her even more by what he said."I don't understand, " she frowned finally able to find her voice. "I don't remember Jake mentioning that he knew anyone by the name of Seth Killian.""Most of the time I didn't come in contact with Jake, but I did know him, " he said explaining further. "I've been hired to keep an eye on you until Jake's disappearance is solved.""What do you mean his disappearance solved? Is he still alive and why would you need to keep an eye on me?" She suddenly felt cold all over knowing something sinister might have happened to Jake.
"I haven't heard a thing about what's going on from anyone and I certainly need answers.""We're not sure if he's still alive, " his husky voice filled the frosty air. "I'm just as in the dark as you."Renay noticed that he didn't actually look at her and avoided eye contact. There was something not quite right about this man. "I'm certain I'll be all right, " she reassured him, but she was far from feeling reassured after listening to him.
"I haven't needed anyone to watch out for me so far and I don't need anyone now.""That's probably true, but you don't know what the future holds. I promise I'll do my best to keep out of your way, " he eventually spoke looking into her eyes. For several long seconds, the eye contact caused a strange sensation to fill Renay. She couldn't explain what was happening to her. She eventually had to pry her gaze away from the contact with Seth Killian wondering why he had such a hold on her since she had only just met the man."Thanks, but I'll be fine, " she was finally able to say."I'm sure of that, but I'm just alerting you to the fact that I'll be around so if you should see me, you won't be frightened.
