The vineyard is controlled by Vladislav Moraru, a ruthless strategist who has built an empire by silencing anyone who threatens the secret.
As a journalist publishes the list of names and the scandal explodes across Moldova, the fragile balance of power collapses. Assassins are sent, witnesses are hunted, and the country begins to tremble under the weight of revelations that could destroy entire institutions. The story races toward a violent confrontation at the vineyard itself, where Rusu returns for one final reckoning with Moraru before the police arrive.
Though the truth is finally uncovered and the crimes are exposed to the world, the victory comes at a terrible cost. Rusu dies in the courtyard of the vineyard he spent years trying to expose, becoming the last victim of the secrets buried beneath its soil. In the aftermath, the graves are uncovered, powerful men fall from power, and the country begins to confront the corruption it had long ignored.
Yet the novel ends with a quiet philosophical reflection: justice may reveal the truth, but it rarely arrives without sacrifice-and the earth remembers every secret that men try to hide beneath it.
