Résumé

The Laird Grant encounters what he believes to be an apparition of a little girl in a meadow, but he quickly realises that she is entirely real. He gives her the name 'Wild Flower'. Fascinated by an old family tale about a girl who appears out of nowhere in that very meadow, he eagerly engages her as a companion for his granddaughter. His granddaughter, Logan, is spiteful & mean to the newcomer, but Wild Flower is unrelentingly kind & sweet in response and eventually wins her friendship.
Little does Logan realise that Wild Flower will change absolutely everything about her life & propel her towards a glorious future as a folk hero. The Laird Grant is approached by a pair of cunning & scheming envoys from the Royal Court of King James. The men wish to obliterate the benign influence of Queen Annis on the Western Highlands of Scotland. The Laird Grant, whose Clan has had a feud with the queen for centuries, agrees to help them.
This, however, sets in motion a train of momentous events with dramatic consequences. Will the queen live or die? Will the Highlands be plunged into a catastrophic civil war? When the laird's Sergeant-at-Arms is forced to make a stark choice between good & evil, how will he respond? The future of Scotland depends on his decision.
