Résumé

"A properly conducted exit interview contains everything an organization needs to protect itself. The trick, of course, is knowing who it needs protection from."Carolyn Boone has spent six years as the Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Vantage Biopharma, finding comfort and safety in strict adherence to corporate protocols. She processes the paperwork, conducts the exit interviews, and forwards the recordings to the legal department without a second thought.
She is the perfect, compliant employee in an ecosystem built on trust. Then, a matte black flash drive appears in her mail slot. The drive contains an audio file of a former employee's exit interview-but it's a conversation Carolyn never had. The voice on the recording makes four chillingly specific predictions about imminent disasters within the company: a server crash, an executive's forced resignation, a dangerous "accident" in the stairwell, and finally, Carolyn's own downfall in the file room.
When the predictions start coming true, Carolyn is plunged into a paranoid nightmare. She discovers that her trusted colleague, General Counsel Graham Delling, has been weaponizing the exit interview recordings she blindly forwarded to him. Using audio manipulation and splicing, Graham silences whistleblowers and forces out anyone who threatens his power. Worse, Graham knows Carolyn is onto him, and he has already begun building a fabricated narrative to frame her as the unstable architect of the entire operation.
With a major board audit looming, Carolyn must race against time to gather forensic evidence, untangle years of financial corruption, and expose the monster hiding behind the corporate handbook. But how do you take down a man who controls the very systems designed to investigate him?
