The facts are small. The headlines are enormous. A tarp becomes a constitutional crisis. A routine infrastructure decision becomes an attack on civilization. A corporate merger becomes a cultural coup. A proposed currency design becomes authoritarian mind control. And somewhere, a panel of seven experts is already waiting. The Correction Desk collects fifteen media satire novellas in which ordinary administrative decisions, civic disputes, corporate filings, political controversies, and cultural arguments are fed into a machine that rewards urgency, certainty, outrage, and spectacle.
Each story follows the escalation from mundane event to national emergency, through breaking-news banners, expert panels, viral reactions, political performance, and finally the quiet factual explanation almost nobody notices. These stories do not argue that every journalist lies or every controversy is invented. Their target is something stranger: the incentive to turn ambiguity into certainty, process into apocalypse, and ordinary reality into irresistible television.
Fifteen stories. Fifteen crises. One correction desk nobody wants to visit. That last positioning matches the author's note closely: the collection targets narrative distortion, televised urgency, institutional language, expert performance, social-media escalation, and the commercial rewards of fear. The manuscript also explicitly says its target is not ordinary good-faith reporting, but overreach, symbolic escalation, and incentives that reward hysteria over proportion.
