Résumé
The Believers in Life is a collection of poems that span Sabrina's earlier years as a Poet, from 1994- 2007. These poems will uplift readers, and take them on buoyant waves of optimism and hope. These poems span her youth, a time when she was undaunted or unphased by the tragedy or ugliness of the real world. These poems will buoy you in their childlike, yet wise and reflective spiritual meditations on love, family, romance and our interconnections as humans. Within these pages, the poet invites us into her rose-colored view of a world filled with magic, mystery, and love, both for oneself and others.
With poems, like "I Celebrate Myself, " Sabrina has the reader reflect upon his or her identity: "You wake up one morning and you realize I am the person I've always dreamt of becoming/. These poems will dig deep into the part of you-the inner child-that as a mature adult, you have perhaps forgotten. These poems will encourage the reader to keep for him- or herself the nurturance of the innocent, joyful exuberance and purity of your youth.
Many poems are of a romantic nature, but emphasize introspection , to discover that the most profound relationship is the one we have with oneself. The poet writes, in the poem, "Like the Night Summons out the Stars" -"And I need not look any further than my own mirror to realize/ I am a Universe unto myself/ And you only my reminder/." These poems reflect her enthusiasm for living and her faith in the spiritual laws that govern the universe, the power of love, to transcend, to heal and to make us whole. And, the idea that we are all alchemists and that we can turn any poison into medicine.
That if we look within, we have the power to to reinvent ourselves daily, liberate ourselves from the past and begin anew each day; much wiser, happier, stronger and more empowered. And, with a celebratory spirit of our own human existence, we can step into our destiny and mission in life and embrace our infinite potential.
