Résumé
Three murders. One luxury airship. And I'm trapped aboard with my daughter's questionable suitor and the most insufferable constable in the Queen's service. They forced me into retirement. Took away my position in the Brass Brigade. Told me a gentleman with one leg was no longer fit for service. Fine. I'd dedicate myself to my true love, my chrysanthemums, and never look back. Then the telegram arrived.
I soon found myself aboard the luxury airship Empress of the Skies, surrounded by society's finest, my malfunctioning mechanical leg chiming the hour at inopportune moments, and-most vexing of all-sharing investigation duties with Head Constable Rudy Shirty. The man is insufferable. Pompous. Entirely too confident in his policing abilities. We took an instant dislike to each other. Then the murders began.
Three bodies. Multiple suspects. And my daughter appears to be romantically entangled with Carson Thorpe, a gentleman adventurer who's far too charming and possibly a cold-blooded killer. As passengers drop like flies and the killer remains frustratingly elusive, I must navigate society dinners, my mechanical leg keeps malfunctioning at the worst moments, my neighbour Mrs. Pemberton insists on inserting herself into the investigation, and I'm beginning to suspect everyone aboard has secrets worth killing for.
And there may be a plot to assassinate the Queen. A steampunk cozy mystery featuring murder most inconvenient, a retired spy who preferred forced retirement, and a mechanical leg with spectacularly poor timing.
