In pursuit of answers, Dillon Winters returns to the city where his journey began. Faced with crazed marauders, changing behaviors within the infected, and his own personal demons, Dillon forges his way forward to uncover the facts behind his daughter's death and the ultimate fate of the human race. Dillon Winters embarks on a new mission after receiving a message from a man who promises to provide the answers he's been searching for, only to be confronted by haunting memories of his past.
While in Dallas, Dillon forms an alliance with several other survivors as they're hunted by marauders and the living dead. Together, the group leaves the city behind and embarks on a journey to find the stranger who claims to have the answers, while praying they're not walking into a trap. When betrayal becomes a fight for survival for one member of the group, Dillon has to risk his life to find enough medical supplies to save the man who double-crossed him, causing tension within the group.
For each question Dillon finds an answer for, two more replace it, leading Dillon further and further down a seemingly never ending rabbit hole filled with conspiracy theories and governmental cover-ups.
