A decade after a worldwide conflict in which billions perished and nations were destroyed, the fragile peace between many factions battling over resources and long-standing territorial and religious disputes is held together with the aid of peacekeepers, in part, from Australia. Kit Walker, who recently returned to Australia from his latest peacekeeping mission, is suffering from the loss of one of his team members.
This tragedy lays bare the trauma of earlier deployments. It also stokes the memory of the love of his life, who had mysteriously disappeared during the global crisis.
