After three weeks, his leads ran dry, and he turned to the Umbra, who had been trying to reach him since Palmer's death. Among the archives Palmer maintained, an item is discovered missing. From the moment Mick offers the job, things don't add up, starting with the payment: all information the Umbra have related to Edith.
Ava assumes it's the same lies, but easier to spot. If anything, she agrees to take the case because she wants to know the truth behind the item that's gone missing. They're told it's a relic capable of stopping events with its mere presence, one that was altered by Palmer. The Umbra blame it for the increasing number of events and vanishing shadows, but Ava has her doubts. A grieving woman returns to the office.
