Once revered as a tough prosecutor and transformative mayor of New York City, he is now widely criticized for his involvement in controversial and unfounded legal efforts on behalf of Trump. His press appearances during this time, including the infamous Four Seasons Total Landscaping press conference and the hair-dye mishap, have been widely mocked and turned into memes. His public image has shifted from respected public servant to a boot licking fool.
Giuliani has faced estrangement from some of his long-time allies and supporters. Many former colleagues and friends have distanced themselves, expressing disappointment in how he handled himself during and after Trump's presidency. His legal troubles and public behavior have made him a controversial figure in Republican circles as well, with some party members criticizing his actions. Giuliani's downfall is often attributed to his deep loyalty to Trump, even when it put his own career and legal standing at risk.
Giuliani became overly invested in defending Trump, prioritizing loyalty over sound legal and political judgment. Predictably, Trump, in his egomaniacal, self serving way, allowed Giuliani to take on risks without offering sufficient protection or support, leaving Giuliani to deal with the fallout alone. I can't help remembering the scene from the 1976 horror classic "The Omen" where the nurse to Damien (Son of Satan) jumps from a third floor with a noose around her neck shouting "It's all for you Damien!" Rudy sold his soul to the Devil...and the Devil hund him out to dry.
