Résumé

She gets to choose her king. and she chooses him. The great thing about being the ascending queen in the matriarchal monarchy of Anasovia is knowing my desires and decisions will always be respected. Even when those decisions prove to be a little disastrous. Like my choice to take six months before trading in my princess tiara for The Royal Crown (yeah, it's heavy enough to warrant capital letters), to travel to America and live like a regular twenty-something girl.
It's not that the idea itself was a bad one. Sneaking away from my protection detail, discrete as they may be, for an impromptu solo road trip isn't my finest plan. Impossible to regret, though, because it leads me to Hutch Foster. The American businessman wouldn't be able to spot a royal in a lineup, but that's okay. It's excellent, in fact. Because the monarchy in Anasovia? We get to choose our kings.
After Hutch saves my life, it's clear he's exactly the sort of man I want standing beside me as I take the throne.
