Gegenwärtig ist die Frage nach der Zukunft des Radios im digitalen Zeitalter aktueller denn je. Die Wünsche, Hoffnungen und Erwartungen an das Radio sind dabei vielfältig. Bereits vor seiner Institutionalisierung wird es zum Ort zahlreicher diskursiver Verhandlungen. Der Gebrauch neuer Technologien, die mit dem Radio als Artefakt und sinnliches Erlebnis verbunden sind, bilden neue Praktiken des Hörens heraus.
Neue auditive Erfahrungen und akustische Räume sind damit verbunden. Sie bringen ein beständiges Überangebot an Akustischem hervor, das jederzeit und überall zur Verfügung steht. Während sich Darstellungen zum Radio in Österreich bisher vor allem auf historische Rundfunkstudien beschränken, versucht die vorliegende Untersuchung ästhetische und kulturhistorische Fragen zusammen zu denken. Currently, the future of the radio is more relevant than ever.
The requirements, hopes and expectations on radios are various. Even before its institutionalisation the radio had been a place of numerous discoursive negotiations. The use of new technologies, connected to the radio as an artefact and sensual event, form new methods of hearing. New auditive experiences and acoustic rooms are connected with it. They provide a continuous surplus on acoustics, that is available - anytime and anywhere.
Whereas the presentations on radios in Austria are normally restricted to historical radio studies, the present study tries to connect aesthetic and cultural-historical questions.
