Résumé

When local artisan Clara Bennett arrives at the annual Hollyhedge Artisan Holiday Fair to showcase her handcrafted jewelry, she expects nothing more than bustling crowds and holiday cheer. Instead, she discovers the lifeless body of renowned craftsman Marcus Holloway sprawled beneath his booth, a bloodied crochet hook protruding from his chest. The festive garlands and twinkling lights suddenly seem sinister, casting eerie shadows across the snow-dusted village square where dozens of vendors and hundreds of visitors now find themselves trapped in a web of suspicion.
Clara, still reeling from her recent divorce and fighting to save her small business, finds herself reluctantly drawn into the investigation when the bumbling local police focus their attention on her ex-husband-a fellow vendor who'd publicly argued with the victim just hours before the murder. The charming cobblestone streets of Hollyhedge Village, usually so welcoming during the holiday season, now feel like a maze of secrets and half-truths.
Each artisan harbors their own motivations: the bitter pottery teacher whose students Marcus had seduced, the elderly quilter whose family recipe for success Marcus had allegedly stolen, and the mysterious candlemaker whose arrival in town coincided suspiciously with Marcus's growing paranoia. As snow begins to fall, sealing the village off from the outside world, Clara must navigate through layers of deception woven tighter than any tapestry.
The victim's booth, once displaying intricate woodwork and hand-painted ornaments, now serves as a crime scene that holds clues to a decades-old betrayal. Every smiling face among the vendors could be hiding a killer's guilt, and every crafted item might contain evidence that someone would kill to protect. Clara's own reputation-and freedom-hangs in the balance as she realizes that solving this murder might be the only way to clear her ex-husband's name and save her failing business from financial ruin.
But as Clara delves deeper into the artisan community's dark underbelly, she uncovers that Marcus had been systematically destroying lives through blackmail and manipulation, using the intimate knowledge he gained from his craft workshops to expose everyone's secrets. The killer could be anyone: the soft-spoken soap maker, the volatile blacksmith, the reclusive doll artist, or even someone Clara trusts implicitly.
With each revelation, Clara finds herself in increasing danger, receiving anonymous threats warning her to stop her investigation. Can she unravel the deadly pattern before the real killer strikes again, or will she become the next victim at the Artisan Holiday Fair?
