Ecology of Environments is an ongoing cross-disciplinary research program exploring the morphology of complex systems. Morphology of Transitional Environments is the sixth volume in the series. The book investigates how complex systems undergo transformation across biological, social, technological, cognitive and institutional domains. Rather than treating transitions as simple movements between stable states, it explores transitional environments as ecological architectures where identities, observers, environments and coordinate systems may all change simultaneously.
Drawing on cross-laboratory comparative research, the volume examines membranes, interphase regions, distributed transitions, residual geometries, recoverability and architectural invariants. It proposes a comparative framework for studying transformation without assuming a single disciplinary language, inviting readers to explore recurring morphologies across diverse systems. Rather than presenting a finished theory, this volume offers an open research framework intended to support further observation, comparison and cross-disciplinary dialogue.
