Einmal im Jahr gibt der Kirchenpräsident vor der Synode einen »Bericht zur Lage in Kirche und Gesellschaft« . Das sieht die Kirchenordnung der EKHN so vor. Der Bericht zeigt auf, wie die Kirche durch das Zeitgeschehen herausgefordert ist und wie sie sich konkret dazu verhält. Darin ist er zugleich eine theologisch begründete Zeitansage.
Volker Jung war sechzehn Jahre lang Kirchenpräsident der EKHN und seit 2015 auch Mitglied im Rat der EKD.
Weltweite Finanzkrise, sexualisierte Gewalt, Klimawandel, Friedensethik, Ökumene, interreligiöses Gespräch, Migration und Flüchtlingsaufnahme, Digitalisierung, Corona, Reformationsjubiläum, Mitgliederentwicklung und viele andere Themen werden in den Berichten aufgegriffen. At the same time, it is a theologically based announcement of the times. Volker Jung was Church President of the EKHN for sixteen years and has also been a member of the EKD Council since 2015.
Global financial crisis, sexualized violence, climate change, peace ethics, ecumenism, interreligious dialogue, migration and refugee reception, digitalization, coronavirus, the anniversary of the Reformation, membership development, and many other topics are addressed in the reports.
