Résumé

Jenny has everything a woman in her world could ask for: status, wealth, security... a boorish fiancé who pays her little to no attention.  And this is just fine for Jenny, she has an equal amount of affection for her soon to be husband and is perfectly happy spending as much as her time as possible ignoring him as much as he ignores her.  But when a handsome stranger pursues her -- despite him have less than zero status!-- she find herself drawn in and questioning her assumptions about him and herself.
Romantasy without the misogyny!I specifically wrote this story after I watched a YouTuber accuse romantasy of being Conservative Propaganda (Willow Talks Books -- I'm sure her audience is bigger than mine and doesn't need or want a shout out, but I have been dutifully trained to cite my sources).  And then I embarked on a couple of flights that totaled something like 18 hours total flight time and I can't sleep on planes.
One, I took it as a challenge to write an interesting heterosexual romance and 'spicy' scene.  And two, I really wanted to explore how to hit on the important parts of romantasy without endorsing a lot of the misogynistic overtones.  Endorsing is the key word there.  Jenny is from an extremely misogynistic society (it's part of a larger shared universe that I am arrogant enough to claim to be creating, so there is so much more lore behind their misogyny than will very be said in any one story), so it is complete fantasy and unlike anything than exists in current (2020's) Western Society...
However, Jenny has her own place in her world.  Yes, that world doesn't respect women, but that doesn't mean Jenny doesn't respect herself.  I wanted to show someone being a willing partner in her seduction.  This story stars characters who play prominent roles in my other works, but I thought it would be fun and would fit my earlier stated goals, to write them a quick origin story.   So throw together an unsolicited challenge from a YouTuber with popular characters from my longer works and sprinkle in some Jane Austen vibes: and here you go, you get this story.
I hope it will entertain someone on an 18 hour flight as well as it entertained me to write it.   Romantasy,  non-trope romantasy, trope-free romantasy, romantic fiction with a twist, romantic fiction, no shadow daddies, seriously that one is kind of weird,  just experimenting with search terms here, I hope you understand, all you people on reddit who say they want a romantasy without the unrealitic misogynistic abs, here you go, wonder if you are going to find this.
