I have a friend. No, scratch that-I have MANY friends. I hobnob with the fabulously rich (or at least those who convincingly pretend to be), the sworn bachelors, and even those poor souls who've been buried in the graveyard of marriage, only to be exhumed, reburied, and exhumed once more. Some of my pals are sneaky thieves; others helm Fortune 500 companies-and if you're surprised, well, don't be.
It's not unusual for a CEO to moonlight as a robber when the mood strikes. They hail from every corner of this crazy country, each carrying a life story wilder than the last. And where do these confessions land? Right in my hands, as I serve as their personal 'tree hole'-that secret nook where they dump their juiciest truths, far from the prying eyes of their everyday acquaintances. I promised I wouldn't jot down their secrets.
But, as fate (and a rather loose interpretation of promises) would have it, I kept a journal anyway.
