Résumé

Gary inherited a neglected farm from his unreliable parents, perched on the edge of the Magic Creature Forest, with neighbors that included dwarf goblins and a Witch. From time to time, adventuring parties would drop by seeking a night's lodging. The farm was vast, the chores endless; after half a month of spinning like a top, he had managed to plow only two acres. This couldn't go on-Gary decided to hire a farmhand to help.
After plastering countless flyers and posting notices in the local classifieds, the first applicant to show up clutching a flyer was. a dragon?!Gary fingered the two silver coins in his pocket, pondering whether he could afford to hire a silver dragon. The silver dragon spoke tentatively: "My daily pay, I hope, would be two blueberry pies, a plate of butter-seared steak, quail stewed with mushrooms, and a basket of crusty rolls to dip in creamy soup."Gary relaxed his grip on the coins-well, that seemed reasonable enough.
Both of them felt it was a profitable arrangement. The silver dragon ate heartily and worked just as hard; in only three days it had plowed ten acres, stacked the backyard woodpile high, cleaned and tidied the livestock barn-indeed, one dragon could handle it all. In the kitchen, Gary kneaded dough to bake crusty rolls: having a dragon for a helper was simply wonderful! With the silver dragon's help, he finally had time to take raspberry pies to the saint of the Temple of Light in town, commission forest goblins to gather mushrooms, and join the village's harvest festival.Gary's farm flourished; suppliers came from afar to purchase produce, adventuring parties eagerly shared their tales, and an array of non-human neighbors stopped by to visit.
One particular silver dragon grew a touch jealous: "Gary's blueberry pies aren't just for me anymore."Gary gently stroked his forehead: "Brett, are you. trying to be endearing?"The silver dragon flushed crimson in an instant, resolving to ignore his bold human lover for the next ten minutes.
