Résumé
This is the full trilogy comprising three parts: Star Crossed, Falling Star and The Tontine, subtitled The Simpson Family Inheritance. It concerns present-day Jennifer Simpson's search for the truth about a bank account she can no longer access, and a plot to rule the world, starting with New Zealand, by an extremist group, TOPL. The fortune has its origins in the turn of the nineteenth century when Napoleon Bonaparte was an imminent threat to the new United Kingdom and a lengthy war broke out across Europe, the Middle East and the Caribbean.
The story follows the fortunes of the Blydes, the Millichamps and the Mortimer-Fields and their involvement in the crises of their time. Their stories are linked to the present by the changes to the Counties Bank, now under the control of TOPL, an Extremist Right-Wing group plotting to take over New Zealand and then the United States. The story concludes in a chase on a river in the South Island of New Zealand led by Robert McGlashan's nemesis Inspector Millichamp.
