When her eight-year-old daughter is unexpectedly banned from an upcoming school filed trip, Fang Lin decides to take the issue up with the child's teacher, Nisha Patel. During the discussion tempers flare, and, with each woman convinced that she is in the right and neither one willing to back down, the situation escalates quickly, the fire fueled by a good deal of personal dislike and inherent ethnic tension.
