Résumé

When the sirens finally arrive, the mayor is already cooling on the warehouse floor-one neat shot to the head, no theater, no staged pockets, just a period at the end of a corrupt sentence. His daughter steps over the body like it's a mess she's already decided to clean and kisses Jack hard enough to taste blood before pressing a cassette into his hand. On tape, her voice calmly confesses to framing Jack Colder for moving kids, selling footage to the council, and pulling the trigger on her father.
It's a confession built like a trap. and scored by a familiar three-click hum. With the crooked-tie detective and the woman with the umbrella as the only adults in the room, Jack takes the tape to a relic shop that still knows how to listen. Stripped of treble, the "confession" reveals a director's cough and a soft "cut" riding under her words. A. M. has turned her into a scene, not a killer. Following a ghost of peeling paint from the blindfold clip, Jack hunts down an abandoned train station repurposed as the council's traveling interrogation set: softboxes, taped marks, a bolted chair, a ledger of "rentals" with A.
M.'s initials and tonight's blank line. He's just missed her. A. M. appears in the doorway with his lacquer pen and the same quiet arrogance, offering Jack a chance to sign the narrative clean and walk away. Instead, Jack walks back into daylight, holding a poisoned confession, a contact sheet that finally caught A. M.'s face, and one text that matters more than all the headlines: Two o'clock. Athena sublevel.
Bring a pen. She's been charged. The papers are already calling him her lover. The council thinks it owns the byline. Jack heads toward Athena to prove them wrong.
