Résumé

Elspeth was raised alone by her mother, Beitris, in a small croft by the sea. She never knew her father, only that he hadn't been allowed to love her mother. When Beitris passed away suddenly, she set out to find the Nicneven Order her mother had been raised among, deep in the wilds of the MacInnon lands. One fateful night during her journey, she stumbled into a cave and into the arms of a stranger whose beauty was as dangerous as it was irresistible.
But he was no mortal man. His name was Braunwyn, King of the Fae. In the stolen days they spent together, love bloomed swiftly and without mercy. Yet Braunwyn carried the weight of six thousand years of blood-soaked sins. He didn't believe he deserved Elspeth's light. but for her, he swore to become a king more worthy of her love, no matter the cost. Then, just when everything seemed right between them, a serpent brought a terrifying warning to Elspeth that she couldn't ignore: if Braunwyn were to learn the truth of the child that now grew in her womb, both mother and babe would die by his hand.
Terrified, Elspeth was forced to flee-to her mother's order, to secrecy, to a life of lies. Fourteen years later, fire came for her sisters. Elspeth is gravely wounded, her daughter hidden away beyond reach. Braunwyn arrives too late to save her-yet not too late to bind her life in an enchanted sleep. Still unaware of the child they share, he is shattered by the loss of his mate and descends into madness.
Three and a half centuries later, betrayal seals his fate. Imprisoned in ice for twelve hundred years by his only son and the daughter he never knew-Aldryd and Beitris-Braunwyn's only solace lies in a dream realm where Elspeth still waits for him. There, among fragile visions and lingering love, they are reunited. And Braunwyn makes one final vow. He will free her from her endless sleep. or destroy the world trying.
