The Lord JESUS CHRIST of Nazareth, just before concluding HIS earthly ministry and service, made a startling announcement to HIS chosen servants and disciples as recorded in the Gospel of St. John 14:15 - 17, HE thus charged them and declared, "If you love ME, keep MY commandments. And I will pray the FATHER, and HE shall give you another COMFORTER, that HE may abide with you forever; Even the SPIRIT of TRUTH; WHOM the world cannot receive, because it sees HIM not, neither knows HIM." HE further went on to tell that, they do know HIM; for HE dwells with them, and shall be in them." In this scripture portion, JESUS gave unto HIS disciples both a promise and a condition.
The condition was love. HE told them what kind of love that HE requires, and desires from them and from whosoever shall believe in HIM, and this was that they should keep HIS commandments; or rather they should love HIM by keeping HIS commandments. It's as though HE was revealing unto them and us HIS love language, seeing that HE is the WORD of GOD which is GOD. HE is loved by being obeyed. HE further assured them that, those that love HIM in this manner of keeping HIS commandments, HE HIMSELF will pray to the FATHER for them, and the FATHER will give them another COMFORTER.
HE also explained to them WHO this comforter is when HE told them that, HE is the SPIRIT of TRUTH, WHOM the world cannot receive because the world neither knows nor sees HIM. The Lord JESUS startled them by revealing to them the fact that, they are already acquainted with the Comforter WHOM HE would send, because HE already dwells with them in CHRIST JESUS of Nazareth, and not only that, but HE shall be in them. This Treatise teaches on how to cultivate an intimate relationship with the third member of the GODHEAD, namely the HOLY SPIRIT.
it further explores means of enjoining oneself to HIM.
