Teams or groups of people, work together in all aspects of life, be it business or personal. The importance of teams, and especially the effective and efficient working of a team, is thus of vital importance to the effective and efficient operation of a business and society in general. For a team to work effectively and efficiently, three key aspects must be understood and practiced. These are: The team development process, the skills of the individual team members and the management of the team.
Management of the team consists of two aspects, i.e. the team leader and the organisation management. This ebook describes the team development process as originally developed by Tuckman as provided by Shermerhorn, and Sheard and Kakabadse, followed by a description of the skills required by team members and team management for effective teamwork.
