Résumé

I wrote Confessions of a SPED Teacher because no one warned me how hard-and how rewarding-this job would be. This book is filled with the real stories, truths, and lessons I wish someone had shared with me when I first started working in special education.  I don't use big academic terms or pretend to have it all figured out. Instead, I walk you through what it's really like to support students with disabilities in today's classrooms-from building IEPs, managing meetings, and working with other teachers, to advocating for students and standing your ground when no one else does.  Whether you're new to the field or you've been doing this work for years, I hope my confessions give you a laugh, some real strategies, and the reminder that you're not alone.
This isn't a textbook-it's a conversation.  If you've ever felt overwhelmed, overlooked, or just plain tired, this book is for you. Let's do this work together-because our students deserve it, and so do we. LaKenya Logan
