Résumé
This book is a start of a journey into making life a bit easier, finding and developing simple scripts that take some of the tedium out of modern work life. Looking at automating simple repetitive tasks that usually are irksome and wearing. Lets look at ways to reduce your daily mental wear and tear by setting up methods where you can do something at a touch of 2 or 3 keys that normally you could take minutes to do. In this book I want to expose you to some concepts in AutoHotKey that have practical uses for Productivity scripts you can write and develop for yourself.
Like bespoke tailoring I want to give you scripts that you can tailor to your own needs. There will be script examples for most chapters and the scripts will be downloadable, so you can test run them and then hack them as you see fit. At the end of the book, Appendix 3, there is a combined script of a lot of the examples in the book combined into a single script, so you have a starting point to develop your own personalized script. I've tried to make the learning method simple by showing the scripts that you can review & you can download directly to test & adapt.
This means you can run the original script and see how it works, then slowly tweak it for your own needs. In book 2 I intend to build on these concepts and combine them to try and develop a more generalized script that we can share with others in a compiled form. This means that users can't access your script directly so we have to find ways for them to be able to adapt it to suit their preferences.
We touch upon this in this book. Book 3 will be about protecting your script, being able to create a license for it and then create an install/uninstall file to make it easy for users to install on their PC. I'll also explore ways of using websites as an online shop, a place to download files and as a blog and help site to help manage your program in delivering a service to others.
