Die Verleihung des Uwe-Johnson-Literaturpreises für den Roman »Stadt der Engel oder The Overcoat of Dr. Freud« , die Auszeichnung mit dem Thomas-Mann-Preis für ihr Lebenswerk sowie ihr überraschender Tod im Dezember 2011 haben zu einer Neuvermessung von Christa Wolfs Werk geführt. Schwerpunkte dieses Bandes bilden neue Interpretationen vom Frühwerk bis zum letzten großen Roman. Zugleich gehen die Autoren der politischen Dimension von Christa Wolfs Schaffen und ihrer internationalen Bedeutung nach.
Ergänzt werden die Aufsätze durch Christa Wolfs Dankesrede zur Verleihung des Uwe-Johnson-Preises sowie durch das letzte Gespräch, das die Autorin für die Öffentlichkeit geführt hat. The conferment of the Uwe Johnson Literary Award for her novel "City of Angels: or, The Overcoat of Dr. Freud" and the Thomas Mann Award for her life's work, and her unexpected death in December 2011 have led to a reassessment of Christa Wolf's work.
This volume focusses on new interpretations from her early works to her last great novel. The authors also map out the political dimension of Christa Wolf's work and her international significance.
