Merrick and Tiernan were more than cousins, they were best friends. Their lives had been intermingled since the day they were born. Tiernan often spent time with Merrick's Mama, as his own Mama had died during childbirth. Now that school had ended they had a few months before Tiernan would find out what football team wanted to draft him, and Merrick would head off to Lalbert University. Since, Merrick had moved to Ballarat when he was thirteen, the decision was made that Merrick and Tiernan would spend the summer together at Tiernan and his Dad's home in Lalbert. Atticus never had any interest in mating again.
