Résumé

Jessie was different to most of the girls in Jeffcott. She was the outcast. Mostly because her father had disappeared and left Jessie and her Mama to fend for themselves. But Jessie made it work. They didn't have much, but they didn't go without. Jessie was a skilled hunter and could feed them easily. She learned to sew and chop wood. She knew how to fix the tin that topped their house. There wasn't much Jessie couldn't do.
However, when her Mama becomes sick, there is something Jessie can't do. She can't afford to buy the medicine that is needed to keep her mother alive. Jessie already had a reputation. What could more stories do to harm? Especially if those stories helped her save her mother's life. Even if it meant that she became the most feared woman in the Mallee. This is a human-written story with no AI involved.
Some themes may be triggering to some readers. Language and scenes suited to 18+
