Rya Simmons has it all. She comes from a very important family, and since her mother is the current leader and queen of the only group of leopard shifters in the city, she gets all the respect and prestige that comes along with being the daughter of a very powerful woman. She has a great job, a nice house, money to buy all the things she wants, and she's about to be married. Too bad she's miserable.
It's hard being the daughter of a woman who is more concerned with the good of the prowl than Rya's happiness, especially when the man Rya is engaged to marry is someone she didn't choose. Cameron is nice and all, but he's not really her type. But since her mother wants him to be the next leader of the prowl, she doesn't have much of a choice. Standing up to her mother has never been something she's comfortable with. It doesn't seem that bad until she meets Archer.
He's free spirited, funny, handsome, and doesn't seem to understand why she can't just reach out and take the things she wants. He's also a werewolf, which is the same thing as being a pariah in the very feline dominated city they live in. The two of them are instantly attracted to each other, and Rya's not the only one who finds herself questioning the limits between seeking happiness and hurting others.
She's engaged to be married, but she can't stay away from Archer, and he doesn't seem to want her to, no matter how badly it could turn out for him. Together the two of them will discover the true price of making your own choices and all the dangers and triumphs that go along with it.
