Alien Deception follows directly on from Alien Backlash, overlapping with Alien Checkmate. Sarah, Torroxell President, is seriously injured as is her daughter Katy and to add to post war problems, an organised crime wave appears to be occurring. Anne, one of the original SETI Team, who was kidnapped from Torroxell at the end of Alien Alliance, surfaces on Oberterk, the planet of the Zeobani that Az and Kaz were enslaved and transported from.
She causes mayhem for the Keulfyd and then the Nashi. Anne then plots with Mathew, the military mastermind behind the original counter-attack on Torroxell in Alien Alliance. Anne does not know how many ships are with Mathew and he conceals this information from Anne and the Zeobani. Sarah had to divert him and other incoming ships away from Torroxell due to various tip offs that the Keulfyd are planning yet another attack and many decided to stick together for safety.
Meanwhile Sarah, sick of war, decides to subtly counter- attack using the sneakiest Sun Tzu type methods she can adapt plus a little blackmail and coercion thrown in. Allentom, who arrives partway through, proves a valuable ally due to her exceptional geek abilities. But progress is slow due to difficulties with and time taken up by what looks like perhaps a Niseyen take-over bid using organised crime? Anne tells Mathew the Zeobani are planning a counter-attack to get their planet back.
