Résumé
Vampire LeprechaunA Scare at Bedtime SeriesBarney Pollop has it all: devilish good looks, a silver tongue, and a string of broken hearts trailing behind him through the Irish village of Ballygrim. He's never met a married woman he couldn't seduce or faced a consequence he couldn't charm his way out of, until he makes the fatal mistake of starting an affair with Moira, a mysterious woman in white lace who seems too good to be true.
She is. Moira is the three-hundred-year-old zombie bride of Seamus Shenangan, Ireland's only vampire leprechaun, a creature born when an ancient witch's curse transformed a greedy leprechaun into an immortal monster. Three feet tall, dressed in tattered green, with razor-sharp teeth and eyes that glow like hot coals, Seamus has spent centuries perfecting the art of revenge. And now Barney has stolen what's his.
What begins as supernatural stalking quickly escalates into a nightmare of escalating horror. Gold coins that burn with cold fire fill Barney's bedroom. Food turns to writhing maggots in his mouth. A pot of still-beating human organs appears at the foot of his bed. Everywhere Barney turns, he catches glimpses of Seamus, always grinning, always watching, always promising that the worst is yet to come.
Trapped in Ballygrim by fairy magic, marked by a shamrock-shaped brand that spreads across his body like a disease, Barney faces three impossible trials: surviving a room filling with cursed gold, resisting the corpse-women of his past who hunger for his kiss, and confronting the destruction of his own vanity as he watches himself age and decay in a cursed mirror. But passing the trials only makes things worse.
Seamus never intended to let him go, the games were just entertainment before the real horror begins. Through a dark ritual, Barney is killed and reborn as a zombie thrall, forced to lure innocent victims to their doom while screaming helplessly inside his own mind. His only hope lies in his younger brother Danny's unconditional love, the desperate knowledge of Mrs. Finnegan (the village wise woman), and a final, brutal confrontation at sunrise in the ancient fairy ring.
But even victory comes at a terrible price, and some curses run deeper than death itself.
